Says Jim Pickrell about this book:

If you have ever wondered what living in Alaska is like, you only need to read, and carefully examine Dan Evans and Carolyn Servid's "Sitka - A Home in the Wild" for a intimate look at living in the northern rain forest that is Sitka, Alaska.

Dan grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York state, attended Sheldon Jackson College (in Sitka), and never left Alaska, but made a permanent home in its wilderness as a carpenter, logger, commercial fisherman, diver, firefighter and finally as a master photographer.

"Sitka - A Home in the Wild" is Dan's photographic essy of his love for Sitka, from the rainforests, the muskeg, the whales, fish, bears, and plant life, to the native culture, and its totem poles, that are so present in Sitka.

His book is well worth reading, and having on your coffee table for those quiet moments of reflection on the meaning of life.
