While this image fits the theme well, I'm afraid I find water crowns are kind of "over done". Dgrin challenges scream for uniqueness, at least in approach, and this image just didn't pul that in enough for me. Your crown is nice and sharp and I really like the reflection, however I think it needs slight straightening and your crop could be closer to give it more punch.

Wonderful! I love the mood that the color lends, and how the frame is split vertically into thirds and how the reflection shows a different view of the top edge of the splash, and how....

What a nice surprise to read these comments this morning! Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment. Paul, you and Pyroprints were the reason for my re-shoot (re-wanting better DOF). I just knew I could find a better way of sharpening up the shot. Turns out what worked for me was setting up a drip bag above the bowl so that the drop would continuously fall in the same spot each time... that way I could just set the focus once. I filled a sandwich bag with water and hung it on an extra tripod above the bowl. I poked a pin hole in the bag and the drip was more or less precise. Then I used a ballpoint pen to identify focus on the drop spot (with AF) and then switched over to manual focus. Also, for this series I used off camera flash and a tripod which helped a lot also. Thanks for your input on the original series and thanks to everyone for their nice comments :)

Kidzmom-When Water Collides—Just beautiful. The blue is gorgeous. Although I LOVED the comp of the original submission, I believe this version has the depth of focus I’m conditioned to expect in this type shot. But in addition, the capture of the ‘crown’ and it’s reflection, and the minute droplets that were frozen in the frame make this an instant favorite for me.
